What's Your End Goal??

There are several different services you can perform as a notary public or add to your notary business, but you first need to know what your end goal is. Knowing your end goal means to understand what you are wanting to achieve with your business. Do you only want to perform general notary work (GNW) or would you also like to be a notary signing agent (NSA)? What will you do if the notary or loan signing slows down, do you have other skills to perform if you are self-employed full time? Asking yourself these questions will give you a clearer picture of what you need to do to reach your goal and secure your financial future. Here's a list of things you can do as a notary or add to your notary business.


  1. General Notary Work (GNW) consist of notarizing documents for individuals. You can travel to them as a mobile notary, remain in an office and have them come to you or both.
  2. Remote Online Notary (RON) is a notary public that has the credentials to perform online notarizations. This is done through a platform that has security measures in place to help prevent fraudulent activity. Usually the platform charges a fee and you are paid to perform the notarization. Online notarization typically pays more than physical face to face notarizations. The notary must purchase a digital certificate and signature and provide this information to the Secretary of State.
  3. Notary Signing Agent (NSA) are notaries public, who usually have experience and/or training concerning the proper execution of loan documents and are hired by mortgage companies, escrow companies, title companies, and signing services to identify loan documents, obtain the necessary signatures, and in some cases deliver the documents to the borrower. Mortgage Field Inspector: When a mortgage loan becomes delinquent the bank or mortgage company is required to send someone to the property to take photos and determine if the property is occupied or vacant and determine the general condition of the property.   6. Process Server is someone who understands these rules and requirements and how to deliver legal documents according to the law. Process servers deliver a variety of documents in a legal action. They may serve documents on witnesses, defendants, plaintiffs, and other parties to the action. https://www.texas-psa.com/
  7. Tax Preparer is an individual who prepares, calculates, and files income tax returns on behalf of individuals and businesses

  9. Permit Runner helps manage paperwork during the permitting process. This involves helping drop off or pick up paperwork from city/county offices, reviewing materials, reviewing permits to ensure they meet all submission requirements, and interacting with both city and project staff to help advance approvals. Permit runners often process several permits each day, sometimes for different projects, and stay in constant contact with project teams to better estimate when each permit is needed. Permit runners are also known as permit expediters, and most are extremely local, often working within a single city or county to help manage relationships and understand the unique quirks and expectations of each government office.
